Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
to our customers and their families

UES Executive Chairman – Alex Morcos

Once again, the festive season is upon us and as we prepare to welcome 2022, I would like to share some thoughts with you and to extend my heartfelt good wishes to you and your family.

Our journey never stops, and 2021 was another remarkable period for UES. Not only did we mark our 117th year in business but it was also the 2nd consecutive year where our teams across the globe successfully navigated the most challenging social and commercial environment of our generation, a year when we moved to a fully integrated IT system, it was when our custom designed and manufactured marine seating was launched into public use on New York’s famed Staten Island Ferry system and a year where we strengthened our executive leadership as we boldly strive to professionalise the UES Group.

The individual achievements of our people throughout the year fill me with enormous pride and confidence, making my task of taking the company to the world all the more enjoyable. In October, I was able to represent the company overseas for the first time in almost two years. Whilst the world has changed due to the pandemic, the enthusiasm and support for our products, solutions and people have not and UES was warmly welcomed over an intensive 6-week trip throughout the United States. Next year will see us continue our return to the international stage, with planned trips to Europe, Asia and the USA.

On behalf of the Morcos family, I would like to thank you for your continued support of UES and wish you the very best for good health and an abundance of happiness. I look forward to exchanging ideas with you and encourage you to share your thoughts with me on how we can be even better next year.

Here’s to great things in 2022.

UES CEO – Matt Roughan

I came on board as CEO of UES International in June, and a lot has happened in the short time since.

Of course, the creation of the UES Marine brand has been one of the most significant. This branding change reflects our commitment to this important segment of the market and signals many more positive moves to come, all designed to provide an even better customer experience, and even more innovative products and project solutions, with the same high level of attentive care you have come to expect from us.

I can say with certainty that I feel like a part of the UES Marine family, and for that I thank not only my incredible team but also our wonderful customers. I greatly appreciate all those who have shared industry insights, provided feedback and offered support. You have helped me to really understand what customers want and need from us.

Behind the scenes, I have been working on a range of reforms and innovations that will allow us to build on our brand legacy and provide even better products, services and support to our customers, no matter how big or small, and no matter where they are located.

Our team represents a combination of fresh ideas, coupled with a tremendous depth of product, market and customer knowledge, and I am very excited for 2022 and beyond.

UES Marine is on a transformation journey which started with a top-down strategic review. We’ve made some rapid and bold moves to improve our supply chain and logistics because we have one simple goal: Keep our Customer Promises. That means having the right stock in the right place at the right time and empowering our people to do what they do best, which is work alongside our customers. I am confident you will benefit from these changes and more that are coming.

A New Product Development process has been implemented to better support UES Marine, led by Wendy Lawrence as General Manager. We are just at the beginning of this change process and I couldn’t be prouder of the combined efforts of the UES family in rising to the challenge and I can’t wait to see the results of these efforts flourish throughout 2022 and beyond. I must acknowledge our owner Alex Marcos, whose commitment and passion make it all possible.

And finally, I extend my sincere thanks to our customers. We love working with you and we appreciate the way you allow us to get to know your business so we can provide the highest levels of support.

Please enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday season. We will be back and ready to go hard in the New Year.

Sincerely,
Matt
CEO

UES Marine – Wendy Lawrence

It has been a big and exciting year for UES Marine – a challenging one too, as for almost every industry, but I am very proud of where we are as we close out 2021 and I am excited for what awaits us in the new year.

There have been so many highlights that it is hard to choose just a few to share, but some that come to mind include:

  • Our relocation to our fantastic new facility in Everett WA
  • Delivery of the seating for “ Dorothy Day”, the final vessel in the Ollis Class Staten Island Ferry Fleet, with installation scheduled for the beginning of 2022
  • Delivery of projects to number of new and existing customers including the first hydrogen fuel cell ferry in the US for Switch Maritime, Kitsap Transit MV Enetai, and WETA Dorado Haig Point Ferry 2
  • Exhibiting at Interferry Santander Spain after an 18 month hiatus. It was great to finally be face to face with industry friends, old and new, and we followed it up with Marine Log – Ferries Conference, where we sponsored the tour of Staten Island Ferry “Michael Ollis”. This was an immensely proud and emotional occasion marking the fruition of six years of design, engineering, production, and project management across the UES Marine team.

We closed out exhibition season at Workboat New Orleans, where our UES team travelled down from WA in our new UES Marine Freightliner.

Across the entire year, it has been our great privilege to work with customers who are passionate about what they do. We have had so much opportunity to collaborate and co-create, to get to the right solutions. Thank you to every UES Marine customer for sharing your business goals and trusting us to help you achieve them.

There is much more to come next year – but for now, I wish you all a wonderful holiday period. However you celebrate, please enjoy and relax. We’ll be excited to work with you again in 2022.
